Hold Your Pace from Start to Finish

What if your first finish line was decided in the very first minutes of your race? Excitement pushes you to start too fast, and that's exactly what sabotages the end of your race. In this module, you'll learn to build a simple pace plan, manage your start, control your effort by feel, and finish as strong – or even stronger – than you started. The idea in one sentence: a smooth, consistent pace from start to end will get you further than a series of accelerations. This is what turns a suffered first triathlon into a mastered first triathlon.

    What you'll learn

    • You'll build a realistic pace plan: a target pace per discipline, based on what you can already sustain in training.
    • You'll manage your swim start and the first third of the bike to arrive at the run with fresh legs.
    • You'll control your effort by feel and breathing, applying the intensity zones you've already calibrated.
    • You'll establish your first negative split reflex: holding back at the start to finish strong.
    • You'll understand the cost of surges and why a steady pace gives you your best performance.
