    Triathlon: 3 Disciplines, 1 Race

Three sports, one stopwatch, zero breaks. Triathlon isn't just three disciplines strung together: it's a continuous race where every second counts, even those spent putting on your shoes. Before you dive into the water, lay the foundations: the order of events, the role of transitions, the official distances, and the vocabulary that will make you feel at home on a starting line. Once you have these markers in place, everything else becomes clearer.

    What you'll learn

    • You understand what a triathlon is and the swim, bike, run sequence.
    • You identify T1 and T2 transitions and the role they play in your race.
    • You can place the official distances (Sprint, Olympic (M), Half (70.3), Ironman) and identify which one is right for you to start.
    • You understand that the stopwatch runs continuously, including transitions, making transition a discipline in its own right.
    • You're familiar with the basic vocabulary of an event, so you can approach your first race number with confidence.
