    Mastering Expert Pacing for Long-Distance

The first hour will never win you an Ironman. But it can certainly lose it for you. Expert pacing is the art of transforming a written pace plan into a fluid execution, from start to finish, for efforts that last several hours. You already know how to build your race plan and aim for a negative split. Here, you'll move on to fine-tuning your performance: maintaining effort minute by minute, reading your body's signals, adjusting without ever betraying yourself, and analyzing each race to reproduce what works. On Half (70.3) and Ironman, this control is what separates a well-executed race from a late-race collapse.

    What you'll learn

    • You'll build an execution plan sequenced by key phases, from start to finish, adaptable from Sprint to Ironman.
    • You'll manage your effort for hours to maintain your pace until the end, without chaotic accelerations.
    • You'll read heart rate drift and fatigue cues to adjust your pace in real-time, plan in hand.
    • You'll adapt your tactics to an unfavorable course: maximizing your strong segments, minimizing losses on your weak ones.
    • You'll analyze each race calmly to refine your strategy and make it reproducible.
